And it begins…

It looks like Liverpool’s chances of signing Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette are slim, considering the French striker has now met with Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin in regards to a summer move. Verbally, the transfer has been agreed.

Antoine Griezmann is said to have also spoken very highly of the Spanish giants to his countryman, who’s notched 166 goals for Lyon in total.

This is according to Spanish publication COPE.

This term, Lacazette’s on 29 goals and has established a reputation as one of the most fearsome strikers in Europe.

However, Atleti are currently banned from buying players for the next two windows, but have appealed FIFA’s decision and the Court of Arbitration for Sport will give their verdict on April 24.

Ours or any other club’s chances of signing the 25-year-old rely on their appeal being rejected.

Liverpool need a new centre-forward in the summer to replace Daniel Sturridge, who we expect to depart.
