As further defence for the anger Reds are experiencing, it’s worth pointing out that this isn’t the first time Adam Lallana has picked up an injury whilst on international duty.
He also limped off in November’s game against Spain, which somewhat justifies fans feeling a little sorry for themselves.
Our 2017 has been plagued by injuries that appear to have contributed to the team’s overall inconsistency and dip in form. Lallana is the latest absentee and a devastating loss ahead of a truly vital stage of the season.
We need Champions League football and securing that without one of this season’s star men promises to be a gruelling task but one that will hopefully spark some under-performing players back to form.
While fans are understandably furious about the loss of the midfielder, one Red managed to find a way of drawing on the good old Merseyside rivalry with a joke about Ross Barkley.
