Thierry Henry boldly names LFC star his PL Player of the Season

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has picked Liverpool’s Sadio Mane as his Premier League Player of the Season, ahead of Chelsea stars Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante.

Hazard’s form will likely win Chelsea the title, with the Belgian on 14 goals and five assists for the campaign. His team-mate Kante, on the other hand, has been monstrous in the middle and set a platform for what’s looking like a victorious debut season for Antonio Conte.

But Mane has 13 goals, none of which came from the penalty spot, and five assists himself.

“Sadio Mane has been the player of the season for me,” Henry told Sky Sports. “Mane is a hell of a player.

“He brings something different to Liverpool – but not only to Liverpool, to the Premier League [as a whole]. He’s been a star this year.”

Jurgen Klopp’s decision to sign the Senegalese was undeniably an inspired one. He’s rapid, strong and feisty – and we’re a far, far better side when he’s selected.

Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are great, but Mane is more clinical and more direct than the Brazilians.

As a three, they work perfectly together, although we’ve been deprived of them all playing together this term as much as we would have liked due to injuries and Mane’s AFCON absence.

This is why in the summer we need to buy proper alternatives who can genuinely challenge them for starting spots.
