Deal likely: Liverpool set to sign Monaco winger with contract discussions this week

Liverpool will sign AS Monaco winger Christian Koffi in the summer, according to L’Équipe (translated by FrenchFootballNews).

The 17-year-old is out of contract in the summer and is not renewing with the principality club, although they want him to. As a result, he’ll discuss terms with Liverpool in the coming days with the view of a deal getting finalised shortly, says the report.

Koffi has been compared to Sadio Mane stylistically. He’s quick, likes running with the ball and his first thought is to dribble at the opposition defence, regardless of where he’s standing on the pitch.

Monaco, who put so much emphasis on their Academy, will be disappointed, but Steven Gerrard likely delighted.

Our former skipper currently manages the U18s and has enjoyed an excellent debut campaign, overall.

His team have struggled recently, but that’s because most of his players have moved up to the U23s following a number of January loan deals!

If Koffi agrees terms, he’ll join up with Liverpool’s best young talents at Kirkby in the summer.

Yesterday, we signed 15-year-old Jeremy Doku from Anderlecht, so it’s clear to see our youth recruitment is in full swing!
