Van Dijk outlines his perfect Ten-Year Liverpool plan…
Virgil van Dijk’s ‘error’ saw Liverpool concede after 2 minutes at the Etihad, and it was Raheem Sterling who forced him into losing the ball.
Our Dutchman was undeniably fouled in the lead up to his poor clearance though, but he still shouldn’t have stopped playing, assuming a free-kick would be awarded.
Thankfully, that was pretty much the last time Sterling got the better of our exceptional defender all evening.
Van Dijk was bullish and consistent, just like his central defensive partner Dejan Lovren who looks completely transformed alongside our £75m signing.
The best moment came in the second-half, when van Dijk basically did a press-up with Sterling on his back, before nonchalantly flipping our former winger onto the floor.
This tweet sums it up perfectly…
It’s the little things!
