Klopp defends Karius; Blames Milner; Asks Journos to support Loris

Jurgen Klopp has defended Loris Karius following his performance against Tranmere.

Liverpool won 3-2, but the German goalkeeper let a feeble goal in for our opponent’s opener, and arguably could have done more to put the striker off for their second.

As a result, Karius has been the entire focus since the game ended, but Klopp has tried to downplay the mistake and joked that there’d be less pressure on the stopper if journalists simply stopped discussing him!

He also claimed James Milner’s error for our second goal was worse, although having seen both, we disagree.

You can listen to Klopp’s post-match interview, below:

The thing with Klopp is that unlike Jose Mourinho or Sam Allardyce, he’s never going to throw his players under the bus (or park one in front of the goal, for that matter).

He will always support those contracted to Liverpool, whether he truly believes what he’s saying or not.

Hearing a disparaging interview about Karius from Klopp will not help the keeper in any way whatsoever, and the boss knows this.

Hopefully, work is going on behind the scenes to bring in an adequate replacement.
