Crystal Palace make last minute £16m bid for LFC star, but it isn’t Danny Ings…

Crystal Palace did us a favour when they bought Christian Benteke for £30m-odd back in 2016.

And they could do again by taking Divock Origi off our hands…

The Independent’s transfer blog suggests the Eagles are keen on the Belgian and could make a £16m bid before today’s 5pm deadline.

They’ve been consistently linked to Danny Ings all summer, but with hours of the window remaining, it’s Origi that seemingly could make the move.

We had massively high hopes for the striker around two years ago, but an injury picked up towards the end of the 2015/16 season completely stunted his progress. He was poor on loan at Wolfsburg last term and has been miserable during pre-season.

With Daniel Sturridge shining this summer; and Roberto Firmino the first-choice pick, there doesn’t seem much room for Origi in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans.

Liverpool would probably hope for more than £16m though, so may choose to wait and sell him to a European club. After all, we’ve got until the end of August to get this sorted if a non-English club is keen…
