Karius notably messed up big time for us in the Champions League final last season, and his future looked cemented when we signed Alisson from Roma for big money this summer.
Klopp on Karius joining Besiktas "He said goodbye yesterday. He was really looking forward to it. It's good for him. I think Loris is a fantastic goalkeeper" #LFC

Still, classy as ever, our manager paid tribute to Karius ahead of his exit, giving him credit for playing a part in our improvement last season.
Klopp on Karius' move to Besiktas: "He is a fantastic goalkeeper at a good age. Lot of people have spoken about our defensive improvement but Alisson only played 3 games. It started long before then with Loris in goal."

And in fairness, he’s right – while always looking likely to be a bit of a weak link, he did actually up his game quite considerably for long stages of the last campaign as we enjoyed that thrilling run in Europe.
Good luck to him as he looks to get his career back on track after a nightmare performance in the biggest game of his career that you wouldn’t wish on anyone.
