UEFA are considering holding the Champions League Final in New York at some stage in the next few years.
That’s the European Cup, the most prestigious club competition on the planet, taking place in America.

Mediapro CEO James Roures has made on the claim on Catalunya Radio’s ‘El Mati’ show:
“Talks are ongoing investigating the feasibility of hosting a future Champions League final in New York City,” he said.
Liverpool fans were treated horrifically last season when Jurgen Klopp’s Reds made it to Kiev. Hotels cancelled bookings, airlines cancelled flights and less than a third of the stadium was made available to Reds.
If UEFA start pimping out the Final to countries outside of Europe, you can imagine the farce will be worse.
In fairness, a trip to New York would be easier than the one to Ukraine, but that isn’t really the point.
A La Liga game will be played in New York this season, with all indications suggesting it will be Girona v Barcelona.
Spanish fans are naturally fuming, and we don’t blame them.
If Liverpool ever considered moving home games to different countries, the outrage would be enormous.
Sadly, it seems it’s the way football is going, with clubs chasing profits, appeasing massive TV companies and sponsors and neglecting real match-going supporters.
