Gomez aims dig at international breaks as LFC prepare for ‘tough’ festive period

Joe Gomez says Liverpool are ready for a ‘defining’ period over Christmas – adding that the international breaks have only made the upcoming run even tougher.

He told LiverpoolFC.com: “We’re hoping to go into it in a good place and come out the other side in a better one. It’ll be tough, but we’re ready for it.”

There has already been three international breaks since the beginning of the season, which Gomez admitted he found odd.

The defender added: “It’s a bit strange every three weeks going away on international duty – every team has to deal with the same, but being a top team the majority of our squad goes away and it’s not as easy. Some other teams get a break.

“I think now it’s a good run and up to March, we can train together every day for a long period of time. Hopefully, that shows on the pitch.”

Gomez has been incredible this season – he’s going to play a huge role in this run over the next couple of months.
