Many Liverpool fans were worried when they saw Joe Gomez was absent from the match-day squad yesterday…
The Englishman missed out with an ankle injury, but should be ready for PSG midweek.

The insane Alisson stats that prove he’s Premier League best
In reality, there was no reason to fret, as Gomez’s replacement Dejan Lovren put in another stellar performance alongside Virgil van Dijk.
The Croat was imperious in the air, positionally superb and kept Troy Deeney, a player whose physical capability might have troubled him in the past, quiet.
In Lovren’s four Premier League games this term, Liverpool have conceded just one goal, which was a fluke effort v Cardiff – and he’s been part of three clean-sheets. We’d suggest the 29-year-old hasn’t actually put a foot wrong this campaign and would be starting for virtually every other side in the top flight, bar perhaps Manchester City…
Lovren always gets criticised on Twitter, but it was nice to see an array of positivity aimed in his direction after the 3-0 Vicarage Road victory.
He deserves it. Lovren’s playing the best football of his Liverpool career by some distance and still can’t get in the 1st-choice side. That says a lot about our current defensive strength.
Lovren not getting much love after the result today? Was as good as anybody at the back for us. How the other three are getting tipped for MotM and not a word said on him is beyond me.
Thought Alisson's save was the most important moment in the game too.

Fair play to Lovren today, he was really good. I feel the need to praise him when others are too stubborn to.

Massive credit to Lovren and Van Dijk for being solid against Watford, both played a massive part for Watford to only one shot on target despite taking over the hour mark for Salah to break the deadlock. Reason why we’re having the best season in the PL. pic.twitter.com/umT2NQtPaL

Has Lovren actually put a foot wrong this season? I still want Gomez to start, but what a 3rd choice centre-back to have. He's been class.

Thought Lovren was quality today

When Gomez plays we get the clean sheets. When Lovren plays we get the clean sheets. This is what we call quality squad depth.

I haven’t seen many tweets mentioning how good Lovren was today. He does love a good Ariel battle from long balls. Amazes me how hes quality from long balls but he’s shite from corners. Baffling
