An emotional Jurgen Klopp took aim at referee Szymon Marciniak last night, who made his Liverpool side ‘look like butchers’ against PSG.
The French side won 2-1 and based on the balance of play, deservedly so – but things could have been much different if Marco Verratti had been sent off early on – as he 100% should have been.
The Italian scythed down Joe Gomez, studs up, and somehow only received a yellow card for doing so.
Marciniak did award us a penalty, but only after help from the assistant behind the goal, who had to get involved after the ref somehow missed the initial foul on Sadio Mane.
In total, five yellow cards were handed out to Liverpool players and just two to PSG, which Klopp labelled farcical.
Marciniak lost control of the game early and allowed PSG to get away with cheating and time-wasting.
Liverpool were not good enough by any stretch of the imagination, but Klopp’s spot on in what he says here:
