Three key Spurs players to miss Anfield clash

Tottenham will be without three key men when they come to Anfield on Sunday afternoon, in a potential boost for the Reds ahead of the colossal clash.

According to Spurs’ official Twitter account, Serge Aurier has a hamstring injury sustained during the international break. He doesn’t always play, with Kieran Trippier another option at right-back, but has been selected against the Reds in the past.

Midfielders Eric Dier (hip flexor) and Harry Winks (groin) will also be missing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. That area of the pitch is much more of a problem for them, with fewer options to pick from.

Spurs’ issue has often been squad depth over the last couple of seasons, which has prevented them from properly challenging for the Premier League title, and it has been no different this year.

In their last five matches in all competitions, Spurs’ only win came at Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, with defeats to Burnley, Chelsea and Southampton, and a draw with Arsenal coming in that run.

Whatever it takes, the Reds need the three points on Sunday, with top spot likely to have been relinquished by then with Manchester City facing Fulham on Saturday lunchtime.
