Jurgen Klopp is set to be offered a bumper new contract that will keep him at the club until after 2022, when his current deal expires, according to The Guardian.
Having won the Champions League on Saturday night, he is in line for a pay rise that is fully deserved. There is a real belief within the management and the squad that this can be just the start of a golden era for the club, so there’s little doubt over him signing.
Since Klopp came into the club, the Reds have consistently got to cup finals, and so getting over the line in one of them was going to happen at some point – and now it has. After an agonising Premier League title race, this was the perfect end to the campaign.
The job the German has done since taking over a below-par squad, culminating in back-to-back Champions League finals and a sixth European Cup for the Reds, has been nothing short of sensational.
Next season, as well, the Reds will be right back in the hunt for the biggest prizes once again, but this time as Champions of Europe.
