Pundit names the potential signing who could be ‘the difference’ – and most Reds fans will agree

Ray Parlour is the latest person to implore Jurgen Klopp to move for Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt – although Barcelona and PSG remain the favourites for the wonderkid’s signature.

Parlour, like many others, is a big fan of De Ligt, and believes the Dutch defender could make a big impact at Anfield, even with Joe Gomez coming through, and Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip also at the club.

After becoming European champions, the club are looking to push on once again, and he could be one of very few players to take the Reds to another level. Winning the Premier League is, of course, next on the agenda.

Speaking on TalkSport, via HITC, Parlour said: “That would be unbelievable. If they can get him as well, De Ligt, that could be the difference.”

It appears to be unlikely that De Ligt will be arriving at the club this summer because of the crazy wages that his agent, Mino Raiola, would demand.

To sign De Ligt, it would mean making him the Reds’ best-paid player, and to offer that much money to a 19-year-old is not going to happen.

There’s no doubt that the defender has the potential to be world-class, and is not far off that bracket even now, but no matter how good he is, he would have to come in for the right reasons, otherwise the squad harmony could be disrupted.
