Divock Origi, the Reds’ hero on many an occasion last season, is set to sign a new contract to tie him down for five years at Anfield, according to Football Insider.

The Belgian forward has reportedly been given assurances over playing time by Jurgen Klopp, especially at the start of next season, where the game time of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah will need to be managed following their African Cup of Nations exertions.

As a result, Origi is said to be confident he will get the minutes he wants and is ready to commit to a new contract. At 24, he needs to be playing regularly, and it appears that he will be.

His current contract was set to expire next summer, so the club were keen to tie him down to a new deal, and it seems that mission has been a success.

After the Merseyside derby, Barcelona, the Champions League final and the rest last season, that can only be good news.
