Liverpool have reportedly been in touch with Turkish club Trabzonspor over the availability of 23-year-old goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır.

That’s according to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu – via Sport Witness, who claims that the Lille and Celta Vigo have also been in touch.

The sports correspondent for Haber Global also claims that Trabzonspor are willing to increase the young goalkeeper’s wages to keep him at the club.

If indeed true, this move looks as if the Reds are eyeing up a replacement for 31-year-old Simon Mignolet.

If Liverpool are interested in bringing in a back-up for Alisson Becker, then signing a promising player from a smaller club is probably the way to go.

We are the Champions of Europe, and that carries a lot of weight. Young players around Europe will be desperate to sign for a club like us, and even if that means spending most of your time sitting on the bench.

Alisson played pretty much every game for the Reds last season, but with better runs in the FA and League Cups, it stands to reason that there will be more opportunities for other goalkeepers the club this season.
