Crystal Palace hold further talks with Liverpool defender – report

Crystal Palace have reportedly held further talks with Liverpool over out-of-favour defender Nathaniel Clyne who the Londoners are hoping to convince to join them this summer.

The full back spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, where he played on both the right and left flanks, and showed the Premier League that he’s still very much a valuable team player following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s rise to stardom.

Palace are looking to bring in a new right back after the departure of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United in a deal worth £59milion, and have identified Clyne as their ideal option, according to the Daily Mail.

It would seem that the Reds’ number two is not in Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the upcoming season, but has featured three times so far in the pre-season.

There is no sign of how much Liverpool would ask for the full back, but considering the current market and how much football Clyne has played over the last 18 months, the figure should something close to the £12.5million the club paid for him four years ago.

The 28-year-old has been a decent servant of the club over the years, and will be remembered fondly by Liverpool fans, but it’d be wise for him to seek pastures new now that Trent is rampant.
