It’s not often a 16-year-old is the only player spoken about during a professional game of football…
But tonight, Twitter is awash with Harvey Elliott discussion, with Reds and non-Reds wowed by the teenager’s ability.
Elliott hit the bar early on, when in truth, it was easier to score, but the incident didn’t affect his confidence one bit.
The playmaker constantly got on the ball, making things happen, playing clever passes and displaying a near perfect touch. He had efforts on goal with his weaker right-foot and clearly enjoyed every minute.
Liverpool’s youngest ever player is still Jerome Sinclair, but while the jury was always out on the forward, we cannot imagine a situation where a player with Elliott’s natural ability won’t make it very, very big.
The only thing standing in his way is himself and the effort he chooses to put in over the next few years.
If Elliott wants it, the footballing world is his oyster.
Here’s some of what Liverpool fans were saying tonight.
Harvey Elliott is something special. So much confidence for a 16 year old to be heavily involved with our attacks. Taking on players, eye for the pass, what a player.

Nevermind injury, Harvey Elliott should be keeping Shaqiri out of the first team squad.
His talent is exceptional and his confidence is well beyond his years.

Really like the look of Harvey Elliott. Constantly looking to get on the ball and never afraid to take on his man. Some of the best chances have come from build up down his side. Should’ve buried his early chance but clearly a talent.

When Adam Lallana grows up he wants to become Harvey Elliott.
