Not only did Raheem Sterling get in Joe Gomez’s face while on international duty and hold him by the neck, but he left his England team-mate with a big scratch under the eye, which you can see in the picture we’ve included of the defender in the tweet below.
The pair had a coming together towards the end of Liverpool’s epic 3-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday, and Sterling, clearly still riled, tried to make a thing of it on international duty.
Gareth Southgate has sent Sterling home, despite Gomez’s protestations, asking for the winger to be allowed back.
Gomez should be congratulated for how well he’s handled the situation, in all honesty.
Imagine the outrage if Salah did this to John Stones pic.twitter.com/HyP03Y4CtC
