Liverpool are reportedly plotting a substantial bid for one Real Madrid player with an eye to a 2026 transfer.

According to CaughtOffside, the Premier League champions are expected to submit an offer of around €60m (£52.7m) for Eduardo Camavinga and are already ‘preparing a serious move’ for the French midfielder.

Arne Slot has reportedly identified the 23-year-old as a key transfer target, and Bernabeu chiefs could be open to negotiations amid a belief that cashing in on their number 6 might help to raise funds for planned signing of their own while maintaining balance in the squad.

If Liverpool are to lure Camavinga to Anfield – a move which was first mooted all the way back in the summer of 2021 – it’d give them a wealth of midfield options which’d be the envy of any club in Europe.

Speaking of having a wealth of options, Pulsz Casino offers players more than 700 slots and other types of games, with an enormous spread of variety to suit all tastes.

What qualities would Camavinga bring to Liverpool?

The two-time Champions League winner has made almost 200 appearances for Real Madrid, but with Xabi Alonso also having Aurelien Tchouaméni, Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham at his disposal, Camavinga has had to be content with the role of sporadic starter at the Bernabeu this season.

That’s despite the 23-year-old demonstrating that he’s a brilliantly well-rounded midfield operator, as evidenced by statistics from FBref which compare him to positional peers in Europe’s five main leagues over the past year.

Within that subset, he features in the top 1% for tackles per 90 minutes (4.19), top 4% for blocks per game (1.87), top 6% for pass completion (90.8%) and top 12% for successful take-ons per match (1.13).

Such performance figures would make him a nailed-on starter at almost any club in world football, but the level of competition at Real Madrid is extreme.

Would Camavinga be an automatic starter at Liverpool?

Camavinga would certainly be a welcome addition at Liverpool if the proposed transfer were to happen, although Slot isn’t exactly scraping the bottom of the barrel for midfielders.

Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister are an outstanding duo in the middle of the park, while Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz are world-class number 10s. Curtis Jones is also a superb talent, while Wataru Endo is the epitome of a safe option to help stifle the opposition in the middle third.

Squad depth is paramount in an era when footballers are playing more matches than ever before, and the rate of injuries is unsurprisingly increasing, although some managers view having a plethora of options as more of a burden than a luxury.

It’ll be interesting to see if Liverpool proceed with submitting a bid for Camavinga in 2026, particularly if he’s deemed surplus to requirements at Real Madrid.
