Sacramento Republic are hardly stellar opposition, but Cameron Brannagan‘s friendly performance against the American side at the end of last week was a joy to behold.
Not only did the 20-year-old score a majestic goal in the 2-2 draw, but he ran the game with clever passes and smart dribbles from central midfield. His wonder-goal will steal the headlines, but watching his overall contribution was actually just as impressive.
He signed a contract extension this summer and will likely play a large role in our pre-season, and we hope he gets some opportunities next term as well. It’ll be hard to blood youngsters without European competition, but we’d love to see Brannagan in the early rounds of the League Cup.
