Firmino has crucial ‘Anti-Arsenal’ agreement inserted into his monster €98m Liverpool clause

This is a crazy story and perhaps shows that football clubs can be as petty as they like, even when multi-millions are involved!

It turns out that Roberto Firmino has a €98m release clause inserted into his Liverpool contract, that can be activated by any club in the world except Arsenal!

This is the deal the Brazilian signed in 2015 when he joined from Hoffenheim.

Football Leaks have reported the information, and it’s been picked up by all the nationals, including the Independent.

It appears that Liverpool insisted on the clause following Arsenal’s infamous pursuit of Luis Suarez, where they offered £40,000,001 for the Uruguayan in 2013, believing this would trigger his release. We flatly refused to speak to the Gunners with our owner John Henry tweeting: ‘What do you think they are smoking over there at Emirates?’

Firmino is one of our key attackers, having scored five Premier League goals so far this term, establishing himself as the first-choice centre-forward when everyone is fit.

He suits Jurgen Klopp’s style perfectly, and we can’t wait to see what he can offer us long-term. Thankfully, with such a mammoth release-clause, we’re not at risking of losing him anytime soon.
