Trying to decide on Liverpool’s most talented player always proves to be a nice reminder of what a talented bunch Jurgen Klopp has at his disposal.
Joel Matip is the latest to be confronted with the task of picking a name and has opted for a duo we suspect are great to watch in training.
In an interview with the Liverpool Echo, he said: “Daniel (Sturridge) and Coutinho. If you see them with the ball you don’t have to say something, everybody knows they’re amazing.”
It’s difficult to argue with that.
It hasn’t been the season many expected Daniel Sturridge to have but we sense he will get another chance between now and May to have a significant impact on what Liverpool achieve.
We will be extremely disappointed if he does eventually move on elsewhere in the summer as he still has a lot to offer but a man of his talent has to be playing football regularly, especially at this stage of his career.
In contrast, there are absolutely no doubts over the future of Philippe Coutinho at Liverpool after the Brazilian recently signed a new long-term deal.
He is yet to rediscover his top form since returning from injury but a two week break from action could be what he needs to get back up to speed.
A talented duo worthy of the recognition.
