Liverpool are being linked with a Manchester United-esque move to bring Suso back to Anfield.
We let the Spaniard go for virtually nothing in 2015, but according to Calciomercato & Soccerisma, are considering triggering his £35m release-clause now.
Our rivals infamously broke the world record to sign Paul Pogba for £89m having offloaded him on a free transfer a few years previous, of course…
Suso’s a very different player to the one that left Liverpool…
When Brendan Rodgers released the 23-year-old, there was little complaint from fans who’d seen a promising youngster stagnate for a couple of seasons.
But in Italy, he’s finally started to fulfil his undeniable promise.
This term, he’s on five goals and three assists in Serie A so far, backing up impressive numbers from last campaign.
He has a terrific left foot with which he loves to cut in from the right and shoot with. In many ways, he’s a slightly less tactically adept, left-footed Coutinho – who has a similar penchant for genius.
If our Brazilian departs, we could do with another diminutive playmaker – someone to create chances for Mo Salah, Sadio Mane et al.
Suso wouldn’t be our first choice, but £35m is not especially expensive in this day and age and he should at least be considered.
While Phil is here though, there’s not really a spot for him in the side.
