Thank you Ref.!

It might be called “The Stadium of Light” but yesterday, it might habe been a bit to dark as the referee made so many dubious, strange and (who else should I call them?) questionable decisions. Did he understand them by himself or did he just think: “Oh, my first decision was quite dumb, but as it is embarrassing already, I just keep going … who cares…”

It was a dirty play by Benfica. The whole game was quite strange. And yes, Babbel mustn’t do what he’s done, but … Honestly? If I was in his situation? It was just an action out of frustration. So, yes, it was stupid and imprudent, but I don’t feel sorry for this. I fact, both should have been send off. Babbel’s not the villain. UEFA should think about the refs, because this one wasn’t fit. He made load of mistakes. And there were load of mistakes in lot of matches in the past, it’s getting worse and worse with every single match. There has to be something to do about that!

The Reds started well and thanks to Agger’s early and brilliant goal, it could be our night. It could be a night to remember. But … two no-penalties given to Benfica and Torres’ denied goal ruined the night for all of us. It’s not a terrible result, but … Anybody should answer this “but” for himself, I think.

And Benfica got all the fredom to tackle and to kick and foul!  Sorry, but it was so obvious and nobody can’t argue about that.

I was watching the match in a pub and it wasn’t easy, among all those Wolfsburg and HSV fans, to see our team being deprived of the victory. Well, luckilyI got drunk and it didn’t hurt so much yesterday. But today … oh, yes, this 2:1  defeat does hurt a lot.

Next week Benfica is coming to Anfield. I’m sure we’ll destroy them beautifully. As we must, actually …

  1. No, Amanda. Both penalties were correct and Kuyt was offside and influencing the game before Torres´ goal.

The ref was a tool though and will probably be relegated to refereeing Swedish 2nd division for boys under 16.

  2. How anyone can question either Penalty Decision is beyond me. They were both clear penalties. No Worries, Anfield Beckons.

  3. I’m just listening to BBC. They also do think those penalties were no-penalties. I’m not alone, thus …

  4. Kuyt didn’t influence the game before torres’s goal…
it was the refree of france v ireland, but this time he saw the hand^^

  5. I would have given Jamie the benefit of the doubt, but I’m sorry Insua’s challenge was a penalty – no question. He kicked Aimar from behind and wasn’t even close to getting the ball.

Kuty was a fraction ahead of play – I thought the attacker in such situations were meant to be given the benefit of the doubt.

I thought the officials were very quick to blow the whistle / raise the flag when we made any sort of tackle etc…

  6. the two penalties called on us were penalties fine…but how about the Benfica dude taking down Torres from behind in the box and not getting called for it…you know…the reason why Babel got so mad he got a redcard…

  7. wat about the foul on torres when the defender was the last man. Carragher’s penalty was a clear ball to hand. Insua’s penalty is a tricky but the striker was not in any position to kick the ball he fooled the referee n Insua’s by putting himself between the ball n the player.
