Glen Johnson exit: Inter Milan chasing experienced full-back

Inter Milan are planning an ambitions January raid on Liverpool, as they investigate the possibility of swooping for both Glen Johnson and Fabio Borini.

According to reports in the Daily Express, Inter are monitoring Johnson and are keen to sign him in January. It is thought Borini may be harder to convince due to his wage demands, even though he was flattered by the interest the Serie A giants showed in the summer.

Manager Brendan Rodgers could be open to allowing both players to leave the club. Johnson has yet to agree a new deal with the Reds and will be a free agent next summer. Borini in the meantime, has yet to nail down a first team spot despite the poor form of Mario Balotelli.

Borini, who turned down moves to Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers during the summer, told reporters last month: “That admiration makes us happy and proud.

“Of course I was aware of it and the interest in the player, but it’s pleasing that Ausilio is stating that publicly, I knew that Inter and other clubs were interested this summer.”

Liverpool are currently preparing for their Champions League showdown with Real Madrid tomorrow, in which both players are likely to feature. The Reds will be attempting to avoid a third successive European defeat, and will be hoping to reinvigorate their chances of qualification.
