Liverpool could finally nab Henrikh Mkhitaryan due to Borussia Dortmund’s struggles

Will 25-year-old sign for Reds despite failed pursuit in 2013?

After missing out on the Armenian attacking midfielder in the summer of 2013, Brendan Rodgers could take advantage of Borussia Dortmund’s problems and finally sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan, reports the Express.

Fans were just working out how to pronounce the attacking midfielder’s name when Jurgen Klopp’s men beat us to his signature, but it appears that we may see him at Anfield after all.

Dortmund are enduring a miserable season in Germany, and quite outrageously, currently sit bottom of the Bundesliga table despite having probably the second best squad in the country on paper.

Mkhitaryan shone during his debut season, bagging 13 goals, but he’s yet to find the back of the net in the top flight or Champions League in 2014/15. As a result, Klopp is reportedly losing patience, and could offload the 25-year-old in January.

Mkhitaryan is a talented player, but in Adam Lallana, we have a very similar attacking midfielder already in the squad.

Most fans would agree that it’s in defence or up top that we need strengthening more urgently.
