The duo picked up injuries in our last run out against Man United and therefore missed the international break with hip and groin injuries respectively.

However the Boss expects them to be back in the squad for our trip to the Emirates this weekend whilst Lucas Leiva could also be in contention for his first appearance since the Merseyside derby.

“Daniel is back training with the team today. We’ll see the reaction of that tomorrow,” said Brendan Rodgers at his pre-match press conference at Melwood according to LFC.com

“It’s a game we will want to get something from. In terms of the objectives going into the game, it’s no different to what it was before Manchester United, but of course we had a disappointing result and performance last time out.

“Jordan Henderson is back in and Lucas Leiva is back fit and available to come in from the start. The squad is good.

“Adam will hopefully be training with the team tomorrow and available for the weekend.”

Sturridge has managed an impressive four goals in 13 appearances since his return from a length, five-month layoff in January and much to our delight took part in training on Thursday despite recent reports he could be out for around a month.

“We really want to make sure we perform and give ourselves a chance to get a positive result,” said Rodgers.

“The team is coming along fine. The squad have been away, some of them coming back from internationals, and they’re fine.”

A result against the Gunners is imperative if we want to get back into the Champions League for the second straight season.

A win in north London will see us bridge the gap with third-placed Arsenal to two points.

But a loss could have serious repercussions on our European aspirations as it would leave us a massive nine points off the automatic qualification places with only seven games left to play.
