DM) Lucas Leiva
Lucas fell out of favour a little bit towards the end of last season and the arrival of James Milner is only likely to further limit his opportunities. Like Toure, he’ll add a little bit of extra experience to this otherwise young team.
CM) Emre Can
The German is desperate to get a chance in midfield, so if we can’t fit him in during the Premier League games then this would be the ideal opportunity to give him the opportunity that he craves. Only then will he be able to prove himself.
CM) Joe Allen
Allen will also be under pressure to produce this season, following Milner’s addition. With the former Manchester City man and Jordan Henderson likely to command two of the three spots, he’ll need to battle Can and Lucas for the deeper role in our side.
