The Reds have completed a deal for their second wonderkid in less than 24 hours, with 17-year-old American striker Brooks Lennon following in the footsteps of Bobby Adekanye by signing a deal at Anfield.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Lennon has joined from Real Salt Lake after scoring 31 goals last season. He had a spell with us on trial in January 2014 and has now clearly done enough to convince us to take him permanently.

Lennon becomes the latest American starlet to join our academy. Villyan Bijev and Marc Pelosi have previously had spells with the Reds but both players failed to make a senior appearance for the club, with the latter being released this summer.

We are clearly looking to further strengthen our academy side this year after narrowly missing out on the U21 league title last time around. Adekanye and Lennon will join the likes of Sheyi Ojo, Jerome Sinclair and Harry Wilson in the Liverpool ranks and will no doubt both be hoping to impress over the coming months.
