Now the Mail are just being silly… this is a Champions League winning midfielder (and he certainly wasn’t the worst player in that squad, what about Djimi Traore?). The Croatian spent five years on Merseyside and remained a semi-regular until departing shortly after our success in Istanbul. A solid player at the very least.

We couldn’t agree more with this one. Nothing about this transfer worked out well for us. He was signed off the back of a successful World Cup campaign with Senegal but we never saw anything even close to the form he had shown for his country. To make matters worse, he proved to be a big issue with his attitude on and off the field.
