Steven Gerrard could unbelievably rejoin Liverpool after speaking with Klopp

The respected Simon Hughes from the Independent has sent Liverpool fans into overdrive by claiming that Steven Gerrard could return to Anfield – in a playing role.

Our legendary former captain, arguably the best player to ever represent Liverpool – has been speaking with Jurgen Klopp on the phone continuously since the German took over last month.

The report suggests that Klopp has been so impressed with Gerrard’s professionalism that he’s first ready to let Gerrard train at Melwood during the LA Galaxy off-season in January, and will consider brokering a deal with the MLS franchise as well.

Gerrard’s contracted for another year, so would cost us a transfer fee in all likelihood, but Hughes reckons Klopp believes Gerrard will be a superb example to his young squad.

According to the report though, Gerrard is not pushing the deal, and will only rejoin the club if he thinks it’ll be of direct benefit to Liverpool. He’ll speak with former colleagues, close friends and family before making any kind of decision.

Similarly, Klopp hasn’t decided in any certainty either, but will meet Gerrard on Sunday with the captain travelling back to Anfield to watch the Crystal Palace game.
