Klopp met Rodgers before Man City clash

Klopp has confirmed to the Echo that he recently met our former boss Brendan Rodgers.

The German refused to confirm when the meeting took place, but the Echo have claimed they think it took place ahead of last weekend’s thrilling over Manchester City.

“Yes I met him. It was a really nice talk, he is a nice guy”, Klopp said. “I said that before I met him, and we had a good talk”.

“[We spoke] about sport, the world, and private things. It is nothing for you!”

Klopp went on to say it was “normal” for a new manager. “I did things like this with Thomas Tuchel [his successor] at Dortmund”.

It’s great that Rodgers has extended the hand of friendship to our new manager. No matter what your opinion on the Northern Irishman, he gave us some of the finest moments of the last decade – taking to us within a whisker of the title. He deserves to be respected and admired, even if the last 12 months were not of the standard we were all expecting.

No harm can of come from the meeting, as long as he didn’t try to convince Klopp that Joe Allen is on the same level as Xavi!
