Comedy hate-figure Clinton Morrison mouths off about Klopp’s team selection

We all remember Clinton Morrison’s comments back in 2001.

In was mid-January and we had just lost 2-1 to second-tier Crystal Palace in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final. Clinton Morrison had scored their second goal.

“Heskey missed a few and Owen missed a few. I was thinking, I wish I had some of the chances they had. I would have put at least two of them away”, said Morrison at the time.

“Owen has not been the same since his injury problems. I think he is just a bit low on confidence at the moment with the new signing coming in and he is worried about his place” (via Telegraph).

Houllier was not impressed. “If you spit in the air it sometimes comes back on you,” said the Frenchman.

Three weeks later we thumped Palace 5-0 at Anfield in the second leg, with Morrison missing an absolute sitter late on.

Later that year we went on to win a famous treble, the “low on confidence” Michael Owen won the 2001 Ballon d’Or, while Morrison ‘won’ a transfer to Birmingham City.

However, now at Exeter, it seems like the 36-year-old striker hasn’t learned his lesson, and has been commenting on our FA Cup game last Friday.

In a recent interview with TalkSport, Morrison said: “When I was warming up at half-time one of the Liverpool fans shouted out, ‘Oi, Clinton. Tell that Klopp to sort it out. We didn’t come all this way to see this’.”

“Klopp knows the Liverpool fans won’t accept a similar performance at home. I know for a fact there were some disgruntled people there who were disappointed in the team he picked.”
