Liverpool fans bemused and perplexed as Teixeira signs for unknown Chinese club – ‘Money buys your soul’

We still quite can’t believe it, but Alex Teixeira has signed for Chinese club Jiangsu Suning for £38.4m – meaning Liverpool have definitely, definitely missed out on our no.1 January target.

Jurgen Klopp refused to pay that kind of money for the 26-year-old Brazilian, who despite constant claims that he wants a Premier League move to aid his chances of an international call-up, has decided to move to China purely for the dosh.

His reported wage will make him the world’s tenth highest paid player.

Ramires, Jackson Martinez and Fredy Guarin all also moved to the CSL this January, choosing wages over their footballing reputation.

Here’s what Liverpool fans have made of the bizarre news.
