Klopp discharges himself from hospital to make Melwood return

Jurgen Klopp had surgery for his appendicitis on Saturday, which meant he missed Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland – but he’s discharged himself from hospital and is back at Melwood today with the players, reports the Mirror.

The German wants to prepare his side for the FA Cup Replay we’ve got with West Ham on Tuesday evening.

In his place on Saturday, Zeljko Buvac and Pep Lijnders took charge, watching Liverpool concede twice to ruin a two goal lead, with 10,000 fans leaving the ground on 77 minutes in protest to increased ticket prices.

The late goals would have caused Klopp huge stress, and he surely would have questioned why he’s decided to publicly back Simon Mignolet and award the Belgian a five-year contract – with the stopper making yet another crucial blunder.

Klopp would have also loved a full week of training before the trip to Aston Villa next weekend, but our draw in the FA Cup 4th Round means we have this irritating Replay tomorrow.

Again, the manager is likely to name a totally changed side – with Danny Ward expected to come in to make his debut between the sticks.
