Liverpool U21s absolutely thrashed by Southampton U21s

If it wasn’t enough to have conceded three second half goals to the Southampton senior side and virtually throw away our chances of a top four finish in the process, Southampton’s U21s managed to rub a healthy dose of salt into Sunday’s wounds as they demolished our U21s in a 5-0 thrashing (via official site).

Jake Hesketh, Josh Sims and a hat-trick by Jay Rodriguez sealed the Saints win.

The result is made all the worse by the fact that first team hopefuls Bogdan, Ilori, Ibe, Kent, and Teixeira all started.

It was our second defeat in four days after we also lost to West Ham Utd in the Premier League Cup on Wednesday night.

Southampton opened the scoring after four minutes through Hesketh. Rodriguez made it 2-0 before half-time, Sim’s grabbed his goal two minutes after half time, then Rodriguez added two more to cap a great night for himself.
