Our Under 21 side have announced they will follow the senior side Stateside this summer for a series of friendly games.

The senior side will take part in the International Champions Cup friendly tournament, facing Chelsea in Pasadena on 27th July and AC Milan in Santa Clara on 30th July.

Now it’s been confirmed that the Under 21s will play Sacramento Republic twice, once at Bonney Field on 21st May, and once in Reno on 25th May.

In practice, several of those Under 21s will probably also play in the ICC – with it becoming increasingly likely that the senior players will need to play in a European qualifier that clashes with the two games against Chelsea and AC Milan.

Alex Inglethorpe, our academy director said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for our U21s to gain valuable experience competing against quality opposition in the USA.

“The tour will also provide players and staff with a wonderful opportunity to meet the many LFC supporters in the USA ahead of the first team’s visit this summer.” (via Echo)

Sacramento’s manager, Paul Buckle, added “These matches provide a massive opportunity for our fans to see the players currently coming through the ranks at Liverpool.

“There will be some serious talent on show in this next generation of players and they will prove a big test for us and this will also be another step in the right direction for our club.”

If you’re interested in attending, tickets will soon be available on TicketMaster.
