There has been much talk in recent days about the side that Jurgen Klopp will pick for tomorrow’s derby against Everton. What do we want from the remainder of the season? Is it all eggs in the Europa League basket, or do will still have Premier League ambitions?

After he chose to rest several players for the Stoke game, it now seems that he’ll pick a strong side against Everton, Newcastle, and Villarreal.

“Nobody will be rested for Newcastle or Villarreal. But we have to find a line-up which gives us the biggest possibility to win. That’s the only thing,” he said (via Echo)

“Hopefully we have nine games to play, minimum eight. It makes no sense to push 11 players through those eight games because you think they are the best we have. That makes no sense.

“Nobody in the dressing room is thinking about the Europa League. We’re just thinking about what our position will be in the Premier League at the end of the season.

“It’s very important. It’s a big difference if you are 7th ,6th ,5th or 4th, even if it’s not likely. We can be fifth at the end and that’s better than seventh or eighth. We need to try everything to get the best position we can get.”

Klopp also discussed Everton’s busy schedule. They have their biggest game in four years on Saturday when they face Man Utd for a place in the FA Cup final – so it’s hard to imagine Martinez playing all his stars.

“I know all about Everton and have met a lot of people and it’s a big and very successful club in the past, but I don’t know what the situation is exactly there with the semi-final coming up,” said Klopp.

“They are not used to playing two games a week at this stage of the season. It’s a pretty important week for them, but I don’t know too much about them.”
