Liverpool are chasing hotshot Colombian teenage striker

Liverpool have been named as one of the clubs chasing Marlos Moreno in a report by Portuguese publication A Bola.

The 19-year-old Colombian currently plies his trade in his homeland for Atletico Nacional, and his form this calendar year has seen him win two caps for the national side – impressive considering Jackson Martinez, Luis Muriel, Carlos Bacca and Adrian Ramos are all competing for positions.

Moreno stands at 5 ft. 7′, so does most of his best work in the channels. In this respect he’s not a holdup striker, but a quick, nimble one who prides himself on speed and excellent feet.

The A Bola report claims that PSG and Benfica are also chasing Moreno, who has a modest five goals in 19 league appearances since making his debut.

Moreno’s club president Juan Carlos De La Cuesta admits that a big offer will convince them to sell, but confirms that there’s been no official offers just yet.

“So far there is no a transfer, but there is interest,” he began.

“We want to be responsible with the institution and see how everything evolves.

“It would be an extraordinary offer to consider selling it, but we know how the market dynamics.

“If there is a good offer, we will have to consider.

“With Benfica there have been a few approaches but no formal offer.”

We don’t know an awful lot about Moreno, but if we are targeting him it shows another example of Jurgen Klopp’s regime chasing young talent rather than experienced pros. We’ve already acquired Marko Grujic for next term, while the boss has been happy to field academy graduates since his arrival.
