Our boss Jurgen Klopp has called on his players to become legends when they face Sevilla in the Europa League final on Wednesday night.
“We want to use this opportunity to be a champion,” he said (via Echo). In any part of life that’s brilliant and it feels wonderful.
“In any part of life that’s brilliant and it feels wonderful. It is a wonderful story to tell your grandchildren when you are old about being a Liverpool legend.
“How it feels to be a Liverpool legend I have no idea. But it is one of the best things you can feel in football. I would be really pleased for the boys if they can do it.
“In my opinion we are really in a perfect moment to play a final. This hard, intensive seven months feels like it should end in a final.”
We have, of course, played more games than any other top-flight side in Europe in 2015/16, but as yet we have very little to show for it.
“We deserve to be in this final,” Klopp said. “We are here because we beat Dortmund? Right. We beat Man United? Right. And Villarreal? Right.
“Now Sevilla is a really good side but they are not better than we are. We are both there and both deserve it.
“It is not like Sevilla are up there and we are here and we have to bring them back down with some tactical movements.
“No. If we play our best it is quite difficult for each team in this moment to play against us, especially to beat us.
“There is no doubt about our quality at this moment. We will be a real competitor.
“I am quite sure with all the things we did until now, all the ups and downs we had – even with a position of eighth in the league there have been ups – it’s the best moment to play a final.
“Everything is prepared. We can use all the common experience for preparation.”
