Liverpool youngster has asked to leave; wants London club

This is fairly disappointing news, but perhaps proves Sergi Canos doesn’t have the required mentality to play for Liverpool.

BT Sport report that the teenage Spaniard has told club officials he wants to leave and sign for a club in London who can offer him first-team football.

QPR and Watford are interested, and despite Portuguese sides also keeping tabs on Canos, he has his heart set on a switch to the capital, having spent a year in London playing on loan for Brentford this season just gone.

Canos shone, earning a regular starting spot on the right wing for the Championship side, scoring eight goals in an impressive breakthrough campaign.

So well he did, Jurgen Klopp gave Canos minutes against West Brom on the final day of the Premier League – with the starlet making all the right comments afterwards.

His contract runs out at the end of next season though, and instead of choosing to stay and fight for game time (which admittedly will be tricky considering our lack of European football), he wants out – assured of more minutes and money elsewhere.

Canos is talented, but if this news reflect his attitude, he’d never make it under Jurgen Klopp anyway. The report suggests a £4m price-tag, which we hope includes a hefty sell-on clause.
