Liverpool transfer news: Potential striker signing admits he could move to England this summer

AZ Alkmaar hitman Vincent Janssen has indicated that he could be on the move to the Premier League during the summer window.

The 21-year-old is one of several frontmen to have been linked with Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp looks to bring in a striker of his own.

Spanish outlet Don Balon reported in April that we were keen on the £9.6m-rated forward after his prolific season in the Eredivisie.

Janssen was the leading scorer in the Dutch top flight last season with 27 goals in 34 games, and is also making his mark at international level.

He opened his Netherlands account against England at Wembley in March, and has also found the net against Poland and Austria over the past week.

Speaking after scoring in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Austria, Janssen joked to Fox Sports that he will take his phone with him on holiday in case he gets a phone call from a potential suitor.

“I want to make a step, that is clear, but there is no white smoke just now,” Janssen said. “England? We will see. Maybe something will happen in the holidays. I will take my phone with me anyway.”

Janssen may not be top of our striker wish-list, but he is young, exciting and has an excellent scoring record. He is certainly worth consideration.
