Gladbach’s new signing my have positive repercussions on Liverpool’s transfer strategy

Borussia Monchengladbach have just secured an excellent central midfielder from rivals Bayer Leverkusen…

The official Twitter account confirmed the signing of Christoph Kramer, the German international, who actually played for them for two seasons between 2013 and 2015.

Kramer is a disciplined, holding midfielder – and you’ll remember him as the player who started the last World Cup Final but left the field concussed – with absolutely no idea where he was!

For Liverpool though, the news may smooth our chase for Gladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud, who’s emerged as our top central midfield target this summer.

The Guardian suggested at the end of May that Dahoud was our priority this window, having seemingly missed out on Mario Gotze, and with Gladbach having secured a top player for his position, they may be more willing to sell.

Of course, they’ve already sold central midfielder Granit Xhaka to Arsenal, so it could well be the case that Kramer is simply a replacement for the Swiss and Gladbach want to keep 20-year-old Dahoud for next campaign.

Regardless, their acquisition of Kramer won’t harm our cause, especially considering they’ve already secured Tobias Strobl, a defensive midfielder, from Hoffenheim this summer as well.
