Liverpool submit €12m bid for Serie A midfielder (Sky Italy)

It appears our chase for Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski has ramped up a level.

Last night, respected Times journalist Tony Barrett retweeted a message from an Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri – which claimed the Polish international would turn down Napoli in order to join Liverpool.

Now today, Sky Italy journalist Guglielmo Cannavale has claimed we’ve submitted a €12m offer for the 22-year-old.

Zielinski’s preference of a Merseyside switch has been no secret. He’s posed in our kit and repeatedly complimented the club and Jurgen Klopp from afar, and with the Mahmoud Dahoud deal proving tricky – he may have got his wish.

Liverpool fans will be able to watch Zielinski at first hand at this summer’s Euros, where he starts for Poland in central midfield. Stylistically, he’s most similar to Joe Allen of our current roster, as he likes working a team up the field through short passes and playing in clever triangles.

He’s slight, and is capable of playing in more advanced positions – but for us – doesn’t provide an automatic upgrade to the first-team.
