Sadio Mane is edging closer and closer to a Liverpool switch, with all reports suggesting he’s practically a Red. A fee has now been agreed with Southampton, and the player is set to undergo a medical today, Monday 27 June, according to BBC.
There have been strong links to the Senegalese forward for quite a while, and for nearly a week now it has seemed only a matter of time before we landed the Saints star.
The report suggests we’ve agreed a fee in excess of £30m, and all that’s left is for the player to complete his medical. The medical is set for Monday, so we’ll hopefully get more information on the imminent transfer very soon.
Jurgen Klopp is apparently a huge fan of Mane, having been impressed by the 24-year-old during Southampton’s 3-2 comeback against us last season. He certainly seems like a player that could fit into the manager’s style of play, and with the squad currently lacking natural wide-men he could be a superb acquisition.

With 11 Premier League goals last season from the wing we know he’s proven in the Premier League already, and hopefully with a higher calibre of player around him he’ll do even better next campaign.
It’s certainly an expensive signing, but this is Jurgen Klopp’s first summer in charge and it will be interesting to see what the team looks like come August.
