A key Liverpool transfer target who we ended up missing out on will cost a pittance next summer, reports German outlet Sport Bild.

Mo Dahoud, the young German midfielder from Borussia Monchengladbach, proved unattainable this window as his Bundesliga club sold Arsenal Granit Xhaka and wouldn’t let his midfield partner depart too…

But next summer, a clause in his contract means a €10m release-clause will be activated. Liverpool are aware of this, but so are Serie giants Juventus – who’ve proved this summer that they’re willing to throw their weight around in the market.

Dahoud is only 20-years-old but possesses enormous talent and in truth, many Reds had pinned our hopes on him at the start of this window when concrete links were announced. He can dribble, create and control a team’s tempo, and in this respect would provide something different to the physical central midfielders we currently have at our disposal.

Still, it’s not going to happen this window – and now is the time to focus our attention on Jurgen Klopp’s current bunch and see what they’re able to contribute this coming season.
