Klopp outlines the thankless task Liverpool face at Burton

Jurgen Klopp has been speaking in more detail about Tuesday night’s League Cup Second Round match with Burton Albion.

Burton – who were promoted to the Championship after winning League One last season – made nine changes in Round One, but Klopp doesn’t expect a repeat of that.

“In the last round they made nine changes, I don’t know if they’ll do it again, I don’t think so. We will prepare as well as we can and then we want to win,” said Klopp. (via official site)

He went on to describe the League Cup as a tournament for “sensations”, appearing to suggest Liverpool face a somewhat thankless task given the opposition.

“This tournament is for sensations, if you want. First round [if] we go out then it’s big trouble, if we go through it’s normal and you can’t use it for the Tottenham game,” mused Klopp.

“That’s our life because it was ‘only Burton’ but in this moment I am really optismistic we will find a really good line-up and then we have to perform.”

Kick-off at the Pirelli Stadium is at 7:45 pm BST.
