Jurgen Klopp issues Chelsea warning after dismal 2015/16 season

Jurgen Klopp has warned the players and the fans that Chelsea will prove to be a much tougher opposition under Conte than they were last season.

The London side had a miserable 2015/16 campaign, limping home in tenth place after sacking Jose Mourinho before Christmas.

But they have looked better so far this season after winning three and drawing one of their first four games. Admittedly, those games have not been too taxing; they beat West Ham and Watford with late goals, thumped Burnley 3-0, then drew with Swansea last time out.

Nonetheless, they are now second in the table, trailing leaders City by just two points.

They spent £115 million this summer on Michy Batshuayi, N’Golo Kante, Marcos Alonso and David Luiz, and Klopp has warned they are now a much better side.

“Games against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge are a special thing and always will be in the Premier League. They are a strong side in a good moment.

“They are the champion of two years ago. Last season was not a Chelsea season but they have changed manager and are back on track so we must be ready for a real challenge.” (Echo)
